Aces High II Review
By Luis Santana |
Aces High II is an update of 2000's Aces High from High Tech Creations. It is a combat flight simulating multiplayer online game featuring aircraft from the least friendly skies of the last century. Its homepage is ongoing and constantly being updated. The $15 it'll cost you per month to play this updated version is a slight drawback but the game is worth it if you're at all into flight simulation games.
The new graphics are good enough, and suit the purpose of the fast pace of Aces II that's so jam-packed with dogfights and distractions that players wouldn't have time to appreciate perfectly engineered, artfully advanced graphics anyway. Combat etc. takes place in a giant world with thousands of other players. The terrain and maps don't alternate much but, as with the quality of graphics, it doesn't really matter; likewise with the game's sound. In a nutshell, mechanics are what's important here, not aesthetics.
It's not an easy game to play and experience with other flight simulation games definitely comes in handy since Aces' flight simulator is so in depth and realistic. Aces also has a huge veteran following so newbies should presume they're playing against those who have been at it for years and are thoroughly familiar with the only slightly altered terrain and courses in this updated version. If you can get over the learning curve you'll have a ball.
